Healthcare Coordinator Role

The Healthcare Coordinator plays a pivotal role in patient intake, administrative support, and healthcare coordination.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Intake Management: Collect and verify patient demographic and insurance information to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Appointment Scheduling: Coordinate and schedule patient appointments with healthcare providers to optimize resource utilization.
  • Medical Record Handling: Ensure accurate data entry and management of patient records in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to maintain confidentiality and adhere to healthcare regulations.
  • Insurance Verification: Assist in checking coverage and eligibility for medical procedures to avoid unnecessary costs.
  • Patient Communication: Handle inbound and outbound calls, responding to inquiries with professionalism and empathy to build trust.
  • Pre-Appointment Preparation: Gather necessary medical history and documentation before consultations to facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Coordination with Healthcare Providers: Facilitate communication between patients, providers, and insurance representatives to ensure timely interventions.
  • HIPAA Compliance: Maintain confidentiality and ensure adherence to healthcare privacy regulations to safeguard patient data.
  • Administrative Support: Assist with medical billing, claims processing, and other administrative duties as needed to optimize operational efficiency.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in medical administrative support or patient intake coordination to possess a deep understanding of the industry.
  • Familiarity with EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks to efficiently manage patient data.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes to navigate complex healthcare scenarios.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to handle sensitive patient information with discretion and professionalism to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and healthcare scheduling software to streamline workflow.
  • Background in medical billing and insurance verification is a plus to leverage specialized knowledge.
  • Previous experience in a remote healthcare support role preferred to adapt to diverse work environments.
