Publishing Assistant Job Opportunity

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Publishing Assistant to collaborate with our team in bringing creative ideas to life. As the founder's right-hand collaborator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth development and promotion of our titles.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Project Coordination:
    • Manage project timelines, coordinate with freelancers, and ensure deadlines are met
    • Assist in developing children's books from concept to publication

Content Support:

  • Review and provide feedback on drafts
  • Organize and maintain book-related files and documentation

Marketing & Advertising Assistance:

  • Support promotional efforts including basic advertising, content preparation for listings, and outreach
  • Help strategize and execute marketing campaigns across online platforms

Publishing Support:

  • Research best practices for self-publishing platforms (e.g., Amazon KDP)
  • Assist in formatting and preparing manuscripts for publication
  • Track royalties, sales, and promotional results as needed

Requirements:

  • At least 1 year experience in publishing, editorial support, or project coordination in a creative field (children's publishing is a plus)
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Experience collaborating with creatives such as illustrators and writers
  • A self-starter with a proactive and problem-solving mindset
  • Comfortable working independently in a startup environment
  • Familiarity with children's book content and trends is a plus

Nice-to-Have:

  • Knowledge of publishing platforms like KDP or IngramSpark
  • Experience with graphic design tools or basic book formatting
  • Background in marketing or social media promotion for creative products

This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 7:00 pm PST // Remote position available.
