Job Overview

This position requires an individual who takes full ownership of their work, communicates directly with clients, and can independently manage files from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities
  • Taking full ownership of assigned files and managing engagement work from planning through completion with minimal supervision.
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships by understanding client business models and providing timely communication via phone and email.
  • Participating in planning meetings and contributing to engagement strategy with input from senior team members.
  • Reviewing prior year files, drafting preparatory client questions, and managing document collection to ensure smooth file progression.
Additional Tasks
  • Preparing compiled financial statements, note disclosures where applicable, and corporate tax returns.
  • Preparation of internal-use-only financial statements, monitoring deadlines for tax filings, bank reporting, and other key deliverables.
  • Preparing HST/GST returns, WSIB annual returns, and EHT returns, adjusting journal entries, and maintaining full working paper documentation.
  • Performing GL account reviews for reasonability and accurate allocations, reconciling Canadian investment accounts, and tracking tax-reporting data for capital assets.
  • Responding to CRA or tax authority inquiries regarding assessments and client accounts, drafting technical memos with preliminary conclusions using appropriate accounting or tax standards.
  • Assisting with client-side cash flow projections and budget-to-actual analysis, presenting data clearly using Excel, Word, CaseWare/CaseView, and iFirm.
  • Managing multiple projects and engagement timelines simultaneously, maintaining continuous communication with Managers/Partners and flagging issues, delays, or risks proactively.
