Software Engineer Role Summary

We are seeking a skilled software engineer to join our team. As a key member of the Platform Insights group, you will play a critical role in developing and maintaining the unified data event platform.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and deploying scalable backend components using Golang. They will also work closely with product management and other stakeholders to ensure that the platform meets the highest standards of quality and usability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop high-quality, scalable backend components using Golang.
  • Collaborate with product management and stakeholders to define and implement features.
  • Work closely with other teams to integrate monitoring and insights features into their product areas.
  • Design and implement secure, well-tested, and performant features and improvements to the GitLab product.
  • Collaborate with the team on larger projects and advocate for improvements to product quality, security, and performance.
Requirements:
  • Professional experience with Golang and PostgreSQL.
  • Strong database experience and interest in developing expertise in ClickHouse databases.
  • Experience working with a platform or complex applications (Large scale is a bonus).
  • Familiarity building and deploying software with CI/CD or other internal tooling.
  • Familiarity with distributed, scalable and reliable systems.
  • Proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal, sufficient for success in a remote and largely asynchronous work environment.
  • Monitoring system health with tools like Prometheus or Grafana.
  • Analyzing metrics, developing automation scripts, scaling systems.
