Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Remote Sensing Specialist to join our team at The Vito Group. The successful candidate will have expertise in analyzing and modeling remote sensing data for various applications, including land cover/use mapping, fire risk assessment, and deforestation risk modeling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support project design, feasibility assessment, implementation, and long-term monitoring using cutting-edge technologies such as cloud computing, machine learning, and scripting languages (Python, JavaScript, SQL).
  • Analyze and model remote sensing data for applications such as land cover/use mapping, fire risk assessment, above-ground biomass estimation, and deforestation risk modeling.
  • Leverage advanced geospatial infrastructure and automated workflows to enhance MRV processes and support field data collection through drone coordination and validation activities.
  • Provide technical guidance, training, and ensure geospatial quality control across teams, with a strong emphasis on clear documentation, reporting, and communication of remote sensing outputs for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in GIS, Environmental Science, Forestry, Computer Science, or related fields.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Remote Sensing & GIS.
  • Experience and expertise in workflow automation, machine learning/deep learning techniques for image classification & segmentation (Random Forest, Linear Regression, Artificial Neural Network).
  • Experience in advanced remote sensing analysis & modeling, i.e., image processing both active & passive sensors (image calibration & correction, change detection modeling Land Trendr & CCDC), & image classification.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of RS/GIS implementation for forestry, conservation, land use in AFOLU carbon projects.
  • Familiarity with photogrammetry software (e.g., Pix4D, DroneDeploy, Agisoft).
  • Programming skills particularly in Python & Google Earth Engine.
  • Familiarity with terms such as land cover, land use, and carbon project modeling.
