Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Cyber Defense Operations Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our CDO Team, you will play a vital role in identifying and managing cyber risks, leading operational remediation projects for both ship and shore.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in cybersecurity, with experience in information security operations and a proven track record of performing independent analysis of complex problems.

You will partner with subject matter experts, peers, and leaders across various lines of business to address cyber risks, providing cyber risk management and assurance expertise to ensure the implementation and maintenance of systems adhering to cybersecurity guidelines and corporate information security standards.

Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the protection of shoreside IT and shipboard IT and OT systems and processes to reduce existing and emerging risks to RCL assets
  • Administer systems to deliver high availability & security
  • Troubleshoot issues related to firewall, EDR, and proxy configurations
  • Manage change requests, ensuring outages are correctly documented and prioritized
  • Develop expertise in specific tools to solve complex problems
  • Provide basic support across a variety of security systems
  • Participate in on-call rotations to resolve critical issues
  • Leverage information security activities and technologies to raise cyber situational awareness and protection
  • Maintain technical standards, architectural/engineering diagrams, and procedures for shoreside, shipboard, and newbuild IT and technology
  • Review and understand complex cyber guidelines (NIST) and regulations such as BIMCO Cybersecurity Guidelines for Ships, U.S. Coast Guard security requirements, and International Maritime Organization (IMO)
Required Skills and Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience, with 4-6 years of experience within Information Security. Additionally, they should have 2+ years of experience in information security operations roles, demonstrating ability to perform independent analysis of complex problems.

Key qualifications include:

  • Deep technical knowledge in multiple enterprise security tool categories, especially firewalls, VPN, web security proxies, and endpoint security tools
  • Prior experience with CMDB, Proxy, firewalls, or EDR systems is strongly preferred
  • Broad IT knowledge, including hardware, virtualization, networking, architecture, common protocols, files systems, and operating systems
  • An ability to communicate complex technical issues to English-speakers from many cultures
