We are looking for enthusiastic software engineers who can help us support the development
organization to deliver value to customers in a reliable, efficient, and safe manner. You'll be
working in a focused team that owns a critical internal software product and supports the
developer experience. Help us spread focus, flow, and joy to all developers within our team.
What you'll do
â— Challenge, mentor and guide the team to implement best practices
â— Dedicate time to mentor junior developers on the team
â— Advocate the use of unit testing and test driven development to drive design
and development
â— Champion documentation and knowledge sharing
â— Battle technical debt and avoid decision silos
â— Lead technical team members in an agile environment (we like Scrum, Kanban)
â— Evaluate technology choices and rapidly test solutions
â— Providing guidance to the business on ideal technical approaches and
investment
â— Setting the technical vision for your team, and working with the technical
leadership to define the roadmap for the applications that your team supports
â— Work closely within your team and platform teams to solve architectural
challenges
â— Work with product owners to support translating business deliverables into
technical outcomes
â— Design scalable systems with performance and security in mind
â— Identify and solve front-end development issues experienced by customers
â— Adapt and influence the team to create the best outcome for not only the project
but also for customers
â— Work with Architects to define the roadmap and technical vision for our software
platforms
â— Identify areas of improvement during projects and operations to improve overall
processes
â— Drive the evolution of the team software development roadmap and best
practices
What you bringStrong experience with the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) at least 3 yearsÂÂ
â— Proven history of excelling in a team based collaborative environment
â— Experience mentoring junior team members, overseeing code quality and evangelizing
best practices
â— Experience in translating technical concepts and requirements for non-technical
stakeholders
â— Expert level knowledge of front-end development (JavaScript/TypeScript, React,
Next.js)
â— Expert level knowledge of backend development building and integrating with REST
APIs (we use Java, Node.js, Python, PostgreSQL, Redis)
â— Expert level knowledge of client-side testing best practices and tooling (we use JUnit,
Jest)
â— Proven experience designing and documenting APIs (we use OpenAPI/Swagger spec)
â— Proven experience in building scalable production services and monitoring performance
â— Proven experience with cloud-native technologies, such as Docker, Kubernetes, and
Terraform
â— Experience designing and load-testing highly available systems
â— You are kind and want to make things better for others in collaboration with others
â— You have a bias for action and enjoy trying new things
â— You are proficient with Git, and GitHub specifically
â— You have used and understand CI/CD best practices with tools such as GitHub
Actions, Google Cloud Build, and Google Cloud Deploy
â— You have experience with YAML and JSON for configuration
â— Demonstrate comprehensive troubleshooting tactics
â— Ability to quickly learn and explain new complex technologies and subjects
â— Resourcefulness and strong research skills
Great-to-haves
â— Strong experience with GitHub beyond source control
â— Strong experience with AWS or MS Azure, and
specifically the Google Kubernetes Engine
â— Familiarity with monitoring, alerts, and logging solutions
â— Hands-on experience with API management gateways (e.g. Kong)
â— Experience with Agile development practice
