We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who will be part of our Technology Team in Manila to support the university's global operations. This role entails a degree of freedom creating and reviewing solutions that still adhere with the guiding principles agreed upon by the team. This role also involves directly liaising with counterparts in the UK to tackle technical approaches, design implementations, coding standards, and adherence to industry best practices.

What will you do as a Senior Software Engineer

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will develop and maintain software applications, conduct system tests, perform code reviews and troubleshoot customer issues. You will work closely with other Drupal Developers, Scrum Masters, Project Owners, Web Delivery Manager and Technical Solutions Owner to ensure that tasks or projects are delivered on time, on budget, on standards, and meet the requirements.

The ideal candidate is a senior software engineer with 5-10 years of experience creating solutions with the Drupal 9+ framework.

Additionally, having the below knowledge, experience, or expertise of the below would be advantageous:

Core Skills:

  • Experience of working within an Agile development process (Scrum or similar) and proficiency in project management tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to engage with colleagues at all levels.
  • Solid solution design and principles, along with analysis and documentation skills.
  • Experience in Web Infrastructure, modern 'DevOps' engineering practices, and tools like Continuous Integration/Delivery, DevOps on AWS.
  • Able to coach and guide junior/mid-level software engineers on day-to-day tasks, supporting their development and deliverables.

Essential Skills:

  • 5+ years of creating solutions with the Drupal 9+ framework including Configuration Management, Drupal APIs, and Drush commands.
  • Proficiency in PHP7+, version control systems like GIT, REST Web Services, and Postman.
  • Experience working MySQL databases, including data manipulation, tuning, and performance using Drupal APIs.

  • Testing frameworks such as PHPUnit
  • Docker-based local environments such as Lando and DDEV.
  • Integration with 3rd party systems.
