Job Overview

Join a leading Philippine company with an exciting international assignment opportunity We are looking for an experienced Telephone Triage Nurse to work onsite in Mexico for a 1-year deployment. Employed by a local company in the Philippines, you will provide healthcare services abroad, gaining valuable global experience while supporting patients remotely. This role involves addressing medical concerns over the phone, offering advice on chronic conditions, medications, and mental health, and directing patients to the appropriate healthcare services.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Patient Assessment and Triage:
    • Answer inbound calls from patients with a range of medical concerns and varying levels of acuity.
    • Utilize clinical assessment techniques to identify patient needs and determine the appropriate course of action.
  • Medical Advice and Referral:
    • Provide advice on over-the-counter medications, including appropriate dosages.
    • Direct patients to healthcare providers such as primary care physicians, specialists, or emergency departments as needed.
    • Offer follow-up care by checking on patient progress and ensuring adherence to treatment plans.
  • Chronic Disease and Medication Management:
    • Assist with managing chronic conditions and address mental health concerns through proper guidance.
    • Manage prescription refills according to protocol.
  • Communication and Advocacy:
    • Maintain clear, coherent communication with patients using structured questioning and clinical assessment techniques.
    • Act as a patient advocate, serving as the initial contact for patient-related concerns.
    • Conduct outbound calls to provide follow-up care and medical advice.
  • Documentation and Compliance:
    • Accurately document patient symptoms, nursing assessments, care provided, and patient responses in medical records.
    • Ensure compliance with HIPAA by safeguarding patient privacy and confidentiality.
    • Maintain and post patient education materials, test results, and pertinent information in records.
  • Quality of Care:
    • Adhere to therapeutic standards and adjust care plans as needed to align with patient care goals.
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to resolve patient needs and improve care through case management metrics.
    • Make sound, effective decisions, especially in urgent or critical situations.

What our Client is Looking For:

  • Education and Certification:
    • NCLEX-RN certified.
    • Active licensure in USRN ILLINOIS.
  • Experience:
    • 3-5 years of recent experience in Telephone Triage or Call Center nursing.
    • At least 2 years of clinical experience in one or more specialties, such as physician offices, home health, critical care, or emergency room settings.
  • Skills and Expertise:
    • Strong clinical assessment skills, with the ability to evaluate patient symptoms and determine the need for medical attention.
    • Experience providing self-care guidance to patients when appropriate.
    • Familiarity with Electronic Medical/Health Records and the ability to document patient interactions accurately. (expertise in Epic preferred)
    • Proficient in using computer software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and internet applications.
  • Communication:
    • Strong oral and written English communication skills, with proper grammar and clear enunciation.
    • IELTS or TOEFL certification is an advantage.
    • Typing skills for preparing forms and correspondence with speed and accuracy.
  • Interpersonal and Professional Skills:
    • Demonstrates empathy and compassion while interacting with patients.
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative in problem-solving.
    • Maintains confidentiality and professionalism in all assignments.
