The Retirement Consultant delivers personalized consultations detailing solutions best suited to the retirement planning needs of Empower customers. The Consultant utilizes detailed information on IRA and investment products and has a solid understanding of the qualified plan environment. The successful Consultant enjoys assisting customers achieve their retirement goals, is a self-starter with excellent organizational skills and has a competitive personality. Must be upbeat, ambitious and enjoy a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include both inbound and outbound calls and require outstanding follow-through with those they are assisting. What you will do

  • Cultivates relationships with customers by delivering personalized service and responds to a variety of plan and policy-related questions by exhibiting listening, patience, empathy, authenticity, proactivity, and perseverance with external and internal customers.
  • Relays accurate information and provides clear and concise communication of policies and procedures.
  • Assist the customer by retaining current assets through education on available plan specifics and general distribution options.
  • Engages in a dialogue which educates customers in making informed distribution decisions and the advantages of participation in a company sponsored retirement plan or an individual retirement account versus the tax implications of taking receipt of the proceeds from their retirement accounts.
  • Works with active and terminated participants of employer-sponsored plans to provide service, support recommendations on variety of needs including distribution and rollover options, consolidation, investment conversations, savings, and contributions strategies, and more.
  • Manages inbound conversations, makes outbound calls, handles service requests, researches, and attempts to resolve issues, develops and implements strategies discussed to assist the customer with achieving their retirement goals.
  • Endeavors to deliver optimal solutions to customers in every interaction.
  • Engages with peers in the organization to problem solve and deliver results.
  • Identifies referral opportunities to partners who may provide next step or in-depth complex solutions such as financial wellness, taxable investment strategies, or financial planning.
  • Advances career through future internal development opportunities.
  • Uses innovative tools and services to find the best options and strategies to help customers with their retirement-planning needs.
  • Will be held accountable for meeting monthly and annual asset growth and retention/service goals.

What you will bring

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and professional work experience
  • FINRA 7 & 63 registrations required within corporate-established timelines.
  • Demonstrated success in performance/goal-oriented roles, ideally in asset growth and retention.
  • Good working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and various file manipulation skills on a PC.
  • Ability to quickly learn Empower's record keeping system, SalesForce software.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple priorities and ability to handle stressful situations and people daily.
  • Sound written, verbal and presentation skills, identifies and solves a range of problems in straightforward situations; analyzes possible solutions and assesses each using standard procedures.
  • Motivated, self-starter with the ability to learn new information quickly and independently.
  • Good understanding of IRAs, retirement investment products/services and the qualified retirement plan environment.
  • Limited, infrequent travel may be required.
  • Ability to work overnight hours
