We're looking for a Financial Analyst to join our Integrated Compliance Services team at MBPS. The role, under general supervision, is responsible for conducting moderately complex financial, accounting, and economic analyses, including journal entry preparation, detailed calculations, and internal and external reporting. Duties may include assisting in the preparation of journal entries by compiling, analyzing, and substantiating financial transactions as needed, reconciling accounts as requested, assisting in month-end/quarterly/year-end close processes, and reporting. It also involves assisting in the annual audit, including year-end schedules and financial statement preparation, and helping with the preparation of tax and regulatory reports.

Position Responsibilities:

• Perform advanced accounting activities such as creating standard and non-standard journal entries, reconciling complex general ledger accounts, and preparing state filings, footnotes, and financial statement pages.
• Analyze financial results, detect aberrations, and provide commentary on specific areas of focus.
• Recommend process improvements.
• Mentor staff accountants.
• Compile ad hoc accounting analyses for business partners.
• Assist with internal and external audits.
• Share best practices and suggest process improvements.
• Support directors, managers, and team members on various projects and analyses.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience.
• Typically 2 to 4 years of experience.
• Knowledge of accounting rules, regulatory rules, and business processes related to the role.
• Strong analytical and inquiry skills for understanding financial statements and reports.
• Advanced knowledge of specific reporting concepts related to the area of focus.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with management and colleagues.
• Strong computer skills, especially MS Excel and Essbase.
• Knowledge of Lawson accounting segments and Essbase roll-ups.
• Proficiency with JETS for creating and posting journal entries.
• Strong organization and documentation skills for audit trails.
