Remote Senior Architect - Technical Leadership Focus

The Role

As a Senior Architect, you will provide remote technical leadership and guide staff Architects, Architectural Associates, and outside consultants on projects ranging from 5,000 to 200,000 sq. ft., including renovations, interior work, and ground-up construction. You will use your strong communication, problem-solving, design, and management skills to deliver high-quality construction documents. In this role, you will supervise project teams of 2–7 members, collaborate with the Project Architect on technical documentation, and ensure consistent, quality design across all projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Marketing and Sales: Identify emerging markets, understand client needs, and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Writing Proposals: Assist in defining tasks, timelines, fees, and preparing project proposals.
  • Programming: Develop space needs and conduct zoning and code reviews.
  • Preparing for Field Verification: Review existing drawings, identify challenges, and produce Revit drawings.
  • Design: Establish design concepts, create 3D models, plan spaces, and coordinate with consultants.
  • Documentation: Prepare contract documents, lead quality control, and supervise technical details.
  • Bidding: Assist in preparing bid packages and respond to contractor RFIs.
  • Administration: Communicate contract requirements, review submittals, and coordinate change orders.
  • General: Support team assignments, budgets, invoicing, and maintain effective communication with clients and staff.
What We're Looking For
  • Professional degree in Architecture
  • Architectural Licensure (U.S. preferred; international considered with strong experience)
  • 10+ years of relevant architectural experience
  • Proven leadership in technical design and documentation
  • Proficiency in Revit; additional skills in SketchUp, Photoshop, and related software a plus
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and mentoring skills
  • Knowledge of building codes (Chicago Building Code and IBC experience highly valued)
Compensation & Schedule
  • Salary: $40,000 per year (part-time)
  • Hours: ~20 hours per week
  • Work window: Monday–Friday, 9 AM–5 PM CST (flexible within this window)
  • Remote position
