Global Data Protection Professional (AVP) Overview:

The ING Think Forward Strategy aims to create a differentiating customer experience by simplifying and streamlining our organization. It strives for operational excellence, enhancing our performance culture, and expanding banking capabilities. The Tribe Wholesale Data Management is a key component of this strategy, established within the COO Domain to ensure ING Wholesale Banking has trustworthy data that is timely, complete, accurate, adoptable, comprehensive, consistent, and appropriate. This is supported by a state-of-the-art data architecture and IT infrastructure. Data is one of the five building blocks of ING's "Accelerated Think Forward" strategy and the COO's vision to become the Next Generation Digital Bank.

The HR vision focuses on building the capability and engagement of our people to deliver on the bank's purpose and strategy. The Data Management team within HR Global People Services plays a critical role in implementing ING's Global Data Management Strategy across HR globally, ensuring it supports HR objectives while maintaining global standardization and adoption.

If you are good at:

  1. Driving implementation of the Data Management Minimum Standards among Data Owners/Stewards.
  2. Promoting organizational awareness and updating governance documentation, data inventory, policies, processes, quality, and architecture.
  3. Monitoring compliance with GPDP (Global Personal Data Protection) via KCT and relevant policies.
  4. Supporting business management in identifying, assessing, and addressing data ethical dilemmas.
  5. Tracking and executing GDPP activities, including scheduled meetings.
  6. Aligning functions with local Data Protection Office employees and helping BU's close iRisk issues.
  7. Supporting responsible teams in 1st line data protection, maintaining relationships with 2nd line stakeholders.
  8. Maintaining information asset registers, data privacy impact assessments, and data classification reports.
  9. Managing data breach notifications, incident resolution, and reporting to relevant authorities.
  10. Monitoring Data Retention and Deletion compliance within Global HR.

If you are:

  1. Pragmatic, problem solver with an awareness of regulatory boundaries.
  2. Capable of conducting quick GAP analyses, prioritizing, and driving corrective actions.
  3. Interested in data protection and comfortable working in an international context.
  4. Possessing excellent social and communication skills.
  5. Skilled in collaboration and facilitation.
  6. Transparent, flexible, and able to operate at operational and executive levels.
  7. Experienced in program management, preferably internationally.
  8. Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
  9. Knowledgeable in data management, IT, policy formation, data ethics, and data protection.
  10. Results-oriented with a strategic mindset to align data solutions with business strategies.
  11. Capable of building relationships across functions, levels, and borders, and communicating complex ideas effectively.

If you can:

  1. Monitor data governance and protection activities, identify gaps, and ensure proper documentation.
  2. Engage and support data consumers and protectors within the business units.
  3. Coordinate actions, provide guidance, templates, and documentation where centralized approaches are needed.
  4. Share best practices within the DPE community.
  5. Identify opportunities for improving data management and personal data protection processes.
