Custody Tax Operations Coordinator

Role Summary

Reporting to the Team leader, responsibilities will be to ensure that the team accurately identifies, processes, and tracks tax reclaims, relief-at-source, and tax breakdowns on behalf of Northern Trust's global client base to ensure maximum tax benefits. The role will require responding quickly and professionally to inquiries in an accurate and timely manner, with a focus on continually improving the service offered to clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for execution of complex tax processes, where expertise is required to interpret policies, guidelines, and/or processes as part of own work or in support of other Partners.
  • Performs and reviews tax breakdowns and tax reclaims.
  • Ensures that KPIs, such as accuracy and timeliness, are maintained. Service Level Agreements (SLA) are met.
  • Plans and manages the team workflow to accomplish critical tasks on time, especially for SLA-driven processes.
  • Ownership of one or more processes, reports, and/or procedures. Reviews processes, identifies, and drives process improvements and efficiencies, including tasks that can be automated and simplified.
  • Manages daily operational activities and supervises the day-to-day work of the team. Performs checker role in most cases.
  • Continuous focus on the operational risk and control environment, ensuring procedures are followed and updated regularly, assisting and guiding other Partners as required.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Technically sound in own area of expertise with good operational knowledge of other areas within the tax practice.
  • Good core IT skills - Adobe, Excel, MS Office, Word, etc.
  • Good understanding of tax concepts.
  • Knowledge of end-to-end custody tax processes for multiple markets is preferred.
