Job Responsibilities
  • Lead the training, competence development and career progression of our Engineering Seafarers and Cadets
    • Manage an annual training budget of approx. 1.5 Million USD, ensuring economic handling of all training-related expenses.
    • Negotiate contracts with external training institutes for Engineering courses, auditing and reviewing course material, effectiveness, and compliance with our standards/requirements.
    • Develop Engineering training courses in close cooperation with the Technical and Safety Operations teams.
    • Conduct internal training courses and seminars, with budgetary control.
    • Oversee seafarer promotion assessment, training requirements, and career progression, including debriefs on performance and training needs evaluation.
    • Manage cadets' training program covering selection, development, career progression, and certification.
    • Train and assist the Manning Operations team on new Regulations and Certification requirements.
    • Oversee training team business processes and procedures, building continual efficiency in the Training software.
    • Conduct competence interviews for new recruited Seafarers for selection to the Fleet.
    • Manage the Cadet selection program, develop awareness in various Colleges in Manila, and monitor Cadet's career progression.
    • Lead Crew Officer and Ratings seminars in Manila and Europe.
  • Travel to handle all training requirements and occasionally visit vessels for upgrading/refreshing operational skills.
  • This position reports to the Head of ROHQ in the Manila office.
Qualifications
  • Candidates must hold a Chief Engineer's Certificate of Competency.
  • Experience as Chief Engineer on LPG vessels or Tankers for at least 2 years, or as 2nd Engineer for 4 years.
  • Shore experience in Training is preferred but not mandatory; alternatively, experience in ship management, particularly in Marine HR, Training, and Crewing Operations.
  • Committed and responsible in meeting deadlines, with excellent time management, coaching, and managerial skills.
  • Independent, outcome-driven, organized, and resourceful.
  • Strong team orientation and ability to manage cross-functional relationships in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, etc. Experience in Shipnet, Eyeshare, PALe4 is an advantage but not required.
  • Ability to travel at short notice and manage a 24/7 on-call lifestyle.
