Job Summary:

Are you an experienced accounts payable professional looking to step into a senior role with an international client? We're hiring a Senior Accounts Payable Officer to supporta well-established Australian company servicing the marine, defense, oil & gas, and industrial sectors.

You will play a critical role in managing the end-to-end accounts payable process while supporting finance operations, mentoring junior staff, and driving process improvements.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee end-to-end processing of invoices, reimbursements, and payments via ERP system
  • Review supplier statements and reconcile discrepancies to ensure accurate financial records
  • Coordinate monthly and ad hoc payment runs, GST compliance, and ensure adherence to accounting standards
  • Lead and support junior AP team members; validate their work and ensure process consistency
  • Prepare monthly reports including Aged Payables, Accruals, and Payment Schedules
  • Act as primary contact for key suppliers, manage onboarding and credit applications
  • Assist with audits, travel/accommodation reconciliations, and asset monitoring (fuel cards, E-Tags)
  • Drive improvements in AP processes and ERP utilization for efficiency and accuracy

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, Business Admin, or similar field
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in senior role/lead role.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities with high attention to detail
  • Proficient in ERP systems and advanced use of Microsoft Excel
  • Communicates clearly and professionally; can build strong supplier and team relationships
  • A proactive, reliable team player with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Familiar with audit requirements, EOM/EOY close processes, and AP reporting best practices
