Job Summary

The Procurement Manager plays a critical role in driving strategic sourcing initiatives, optimizing supplier relationships, and ensuring the efficient and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services for the organization. This position is responsible for managing end-to-end procurement operations, including supplier selection, contract negotiation, purchasing activities, compliance, and cost control. In the context of skincare manufacturing, the Procurement Manager also oversees the sourcing and importation of cosmetic-grade raw materials, active ingredients, and packaging components from both local and international suppliers. The role requires expertise in global trade compliance, customs processes, and supplier audits to ensure that all imports meet FDA, GMP, and regulatory standards. By balancing strategic procurement with operational excellence, the Procurement Manager supports product innovation, supply continuity, and cost optimization while aligning Dermorepubliq's sustainability and growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Sourcing & Market Analysis
    • Develop and implement sourcing strategies to identify and select suppliers that meet the organization's quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
    • Conduct market research to stay updated on industry trends, supplier capabilities, price fluctuations, and potential risks.
    • Build and maintain strong global and local supplier networks for raw materials (e.g., active ingredients, botanical extracts, essential oils, chemicals) and packaging components (e.g., bottles, tubes, jars, cartons, labels).
    • Drive sustainable and ethical sourcing initiatives, including eco-friendly packaging solutions.
    • Supplier Management
      • Establish and maintain long-term relationships with key suppliers, negotiating contracts and ensuring compliance with agreed terms.
      • Evaluate supplier performance regularly, addressing issues related to quality, delivery, or pricing.
      • Manage supplier qualification, audits, and certifications to ensure compliance with GMP, ISO, FDA, and sustainability standards.
      • Develop and manage a preferred supplier list to ensure a competitive and reliable supply base.
      • Importation & Compliance
        • Oversee end-to-end importation processes for raw materials and packaging, including shipping arrangements, customs clearance, and coordination with freight forwarders and brokers.
        • Ensure compliance with international trade laws, customs regulations, and import/export documentation requirements.
        • Monitor landed costs and lead times to optimize procurement efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
        • Collaborate with regulatory and QA teams to ensure imported materials meet safety, legal, and quality standards.
        • Contract Negotiation & Cost Control
          • Lead contract negotiations with suppliers, focusing on securing favorable terms including pricing, payment conditions, delivery schedules, and warranty agreements.
          • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement initiatives to reduce procurement costs without compromising quality.
          • Perform spend analysis and supplier data reviews to identify areas for improvement and report on procurement and importation performance metrics.
          • Purchasing Operations
            • Oversee day-to-day purchasing activities, including issuance of purchase orders and resolution of issues related to deliveries.
            • Collaborate with R&D, Production, QA, and Finance to align procurement activities with material requirements for production and new product launches.
            • Maintain accurate procurement records, contracts, and compliance certifications.
            • Team Leadership & Continuous Improvement
              • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the procurement team, building capabilities in both local and international sourcing.
              • Contribute to the development of procurement policies, procedures, and best practices to improve efficiency, transparency, and compliance.
              • Lead or participate in initiatives to continuously improve procurement systems and processes, ensuring resilience and agility in supply chain operations.
              • Develop contingency plans to mitigate supplier risks, import delays, and supply chain disruptions.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management. At least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity. Proven experience in importation and international sourcing of raw materials, packaging, or components, preferably within FMCG, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, or personal care manufacturing. Strong background in supplier strategy development, contract negotiation, cost management, and compliance with customs and trade regulations. Experience in collaborating with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and regulatory bodies to ensure timely and compliant material importation.
    • Skills & Competencies
      • Strong knowledge of procurement processes, contract management, and supplier relationship management.
      • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, HashMicro, NetSuite) and MS Office Suite.
      • Familiarity with procurement laws, compliance standards, and vendor risk assessment.
      • Strong negotiation and analytical skills, including cost analysis and budgeting.
