Job Scopes
  • Direct, control and co-ordinate the functions as designated by the Financial Controller, ensuring the hotel achieves Financial goals.
  • Directs and co-ordinates all subordinate Accounting staff and MLG Accounting Department to ensure day-to-day transactions are completed on time and verified for management review.
  • Ensure daily reports are produced accurately and on time, balancing with the Guest Ledger Debit Report.
  • Direct, supervise and coordinate with MLG Accounting Department to ensure day-to-day transactions are completed properly and daily reports from Income Audit and Cost Control are prepared daily.
  • Complete monthly closing for the hotel's books by the 3rd and submit financial reports by the 4th of the following month.
  • Complete reconciliation of all accounts by the 20th with back-up materials for Controller's review monthly.
  • Review monthly payroll prepared by Human Resources and process bank transfers for FC and GM approval.
  • Inspect and supervise monthly stock-taking across stores and operating equipment.
  • Assess internal control and risk management systems to identify vulnerabilities that could lead to material misstatements from errors or fraud.
  • Ensure that property accounting in the owner's books is correctly recorded and maintained.
  • Prepare required reports as requested by relevant parties and submit by the deadline.
  • Advise Financial Controller on bad debts or non-approved credit and monitor monthly departmental expenditures for over-spending.
  • Ensure purchasing and payment procedures observe hotel policy.
  • Prepare accounting and statistical information with variance analysis for the monthly General Manager's report.
  • Ensure accruals and prepayments are accurate with back-up material monthly.
  • Provide accurate reconciliation of balance sheet control accounts with back-up material for monthly review.
  • Assist in preparing the hotel's annual budget and forecasting; ensure month-end closing is completed within nine working days of month-end.
  • Conduct ad hoc reviews of accounting practices of the service provider to ensure alignment with policies, procedures, best practices and regulations.
  • Ensure all accounting documentations and filings comply with policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Conduct periodic surprise cash counts in the hotel.
  • Maintain efficient administration within the department and submit operational reports on time.
  • Ensure employees are recruited, trained, evaluated, and rewarded in line with management systems; coach and develop subordinates.
Requirements
  • 3 to 7 years of related experience
  • Relevant degree / professional diploma in Accounting/ Finance, Certified Public Accountant
  • Good local and English language skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to lead, motivate and develop a team
  • Detailed knowledge of working practices of Accounting
  • Reasonable knowledge of computer systems
  • Ability to cope with pressure
  • Detailed knowledge of SUN/SCM and Opera
  • Proven record of accomplishment in 4 or 5 star hotel
