Senior Privacy Experts/Data Privacy Officer Position: Senior Privacy Experts/Data Privacy Officer (SME's) Number of hours: 20 hours/week Schedule: Canada (EST) Time Zone (7AM - 12NN EST) Overview Role focused on privacy compliance, risk assessment, and data protection strategy across projects. Responsibilities Lead and conduct Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), identifying risks and recommending mitigation strategies. Provide strategic privacy guidance on data handling, risk assessments, and system implementations. Interpret and apply relevant privacy laws and regulations (e.g., Privacy Act, PIPEDA, GDPR, or equivalents). Support client engagements and internal stakeholders across multiple, fast-paced projects. Collaborate in developing and updating privacy policies, procedures, notices, and data protection documentation. Contribute to or lead the development of privacy programs and supporting assets, where applicable. Analyze complex regulatory requirements and translate them into actionable policies and operational recommendations. 36 years of experience in privacy compliance, legal, or data protection roles, preferably with Canadian privacy law exposure. Experience working in or with a consulting environment is a PLUS. Hands-on experience with Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) is a MUST. Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex situations and develop strategic, practical solutions. Proven ability to multi-task, shift between priorities, and manage several concurrent projects. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience drafting reports or presenting findings. Qualifications 36 years of experience in privacy compliance, legal, or data protection roles, preferably with Canadian privacy law exposure. Hands-on PIAs experience is required. Strong analytical and communication skills. Preferred/Bonus Skills Experience in writing privacy policies or developing privacy programs and frameworks. Familiarity with cybersecurity, data governance, or information risk management.
