Overview

Database Administrator (PostgreSQL) - 4658 at Cambridge University Press & Assessment. Employment type: Permanent. Location: Makati City, Metro Manila. Work setup: Hybrid (open to 2x a week in the office).

As a PostgreSQL Database Administrator, you will join our Database Services Team to provide the full range of Database Administrator services in a complex database environment and deliver support for PostgreSQL and AWS (RDS/Aurora).

Responsibilities
  • Installation, patching, refresh, backup and recovery, upgrade, capacity planning, monitoring and performance/SQL tuning, and database user & security management.
  • Engage in multi-team deployments, projects, and other application support; provide input to improve services and processes; mitigate risks.
  • Adhere to IT Service Management (ITSM) and Service Level Agreement (SLA) standards.
  • Willing to work on a shifting schedule (mostly UK hours) and to do on-call support (rotation).
Qualifications
  • Extensive experience in administrating PostgreSQL databases.
  • Proficient in database backup and recovery and capacity planning; proficient in database modelling and SQL.
  • AWS experience managing databases in one or more of the following: RDS, Aurora.
  • Experience administering Oracle and SQL Server databases (Desirable).
  • Familiarity with Windows and Linux; experience working on cloud-based infrastructure; working knowledge of automation tools.
  • Exposure to AWS architecture principles (Desirable).
  • Excellent communication skills, able to articulate in technical and business terms.
