The role will commence in January 2026. As a Medical Scientific Liaison at AstraZeneca, you will serve as a scientific bridge between the company and healthcare professionals, delivering high-quality, compliant medical engagement, generating clinical insights, and supporting therapy-area education and evidence dissemination in alignment with brand and medical plans. Typical Accountabilities Field Scientific Engagement : Build and maintain peer-to-peer relationships with healthcare professionals (HCPs) and external experts to exchange scientific information, respond to medical inquiries, and gather actionable insights. Therapy Area Knowledge : Act as the regional scientific expert for assigned medicines and disease areas; stay current on clinical practice, guidelines, and emerging data to support evidence-based discussions. Medical Education : Plan and deliver scientific presentations, journal clubs, and training for internal teams and external stakeholders, ensuring accuracy, balance, and compliance. Insights and Evidence Support : Capture and communicate field insights to inform medical strategy; support non-interventional studies, real-world evidence initiatives, and investigator‑initiated studies processes as appropriate. Cross‑Functional Collaboration : Partner with Medical, Marketing, Regulatory, and Market Access to ensure scientific integrity of materials and alignment of field medical activities with brand objectives; contribute to medical review processes without signatory accountability. Compliance and Governance : Adhere to applicable codes, policies, and SOPs; help improve medical processes and documentation quality. Reporting and Analytics : Produce timely internal reports on engagements, insights, and trends to enhance field effectiveness and support local medical plans. Education, Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Minimum Qualification : Bachelor’s degree in a life science or related field; advanced scientific degree (PharmD, PhD, MD) is desirable. Therapeutic/Scientific Expertise : Strong understanding of assigned therapy area(s) and ability to interpret clinical data. Pharmaceutical Experience : Experience in the pharmaceutical industry or healthcare setting is preferred; exposure to Medical Affairs or field medical roles is advantageous. Stakeholder Engagement : Ability to interact with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including HCPs and cross‑functional partners. Regulatory Understanding : Working knowledge of legislation and codes relevant to pharmaceutical scientific exchange and non‑promotional engagement. Desirable : Experience delivering scientific training, supporting evidence generation projects, and working within SOP‑driven environments.
