Overview

Baker McKenzie seeks an associate attorney for its Global Employment & Labor Law practice. The position is focused on providing advice and counsel to multinational clients on US and cross-border employment issues, including transactions. The ideal candidate will have some employment counseling experience, and a background in international employment law. However, recent law graduates are welcome to apply.

Our North America Employment & Compensation Practice Group provides clients with “one stop” domestic and international employment law counseling and litigation representation. We assist multinational companies with their international and domestic labor and employment issues, from expansion into or exit from new jurisdictions to deploying and managing a global workforce, to defending them in litigation in both state and federal court. We “translate” the international landscape for in-house counsel and managers with global responsibilities. We lead cross-border and multi-disciplinary employment projects providing commercially practical support for our clients’ global operations.

Responsibilities
  • Provide advice and counsel to multinational clients on US and cross-border employment issues, including transactions.
  • Assist with employment counseling and cross-border employment matters as part of a global team.
  • Contribute to global employment projects and practical support for clients’ international operations.
Qualifications
  • Strong academic credentials from a top law school and excellent communication, analytical and writing skills; top tier law firm experience in an employment practice is highly preferred.
  • Some employment counseling experience and a background in international employment law; recent law graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Ability to function smoothly in a global team environment with culturally diverse team members.
  • Admission and good standing as a member of the Bar in the state of employment; if a recent law graduate, must demonstrate intent to sit for the bar exam.
  • For candidates in California and Chicago offices, the annual salary is $225,000.
