As a Manager of Systems Engineering , you will lead a talented team of systems engineers responsible for architecture and maintaining our core data center and cloud platforms. This is a hands‑on leadership role that balances technical execution with strategic oversight. You will guide the team to support our clients in the demanding financial and medical services industries, fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and exceptional service delivery. You will serve as a mentor, a key technical architect, and the primary escalation point for all infrastructure operations. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Lead, mentor, and develop a team of systems engineers, conducting annual performance reviews and supporting their professional growth. Manage team workflow, delegate tasks, and oversee project execution to ensure deadlines and service level agreements (SLAs) are met. Foster a collaborative and positive team environment that encourages knowledge sharing and high performance. Technical Strategy & Engineering Architect & Implement : Lead the design, implementation, and support of new technology projects, from initial scoping and client onboarding to final delivery. Manage Core Platforms : Take ownership of our multi‑tenant infrastructure, including VMware, Proxmox, and cloud environments in Azure. Optimize & Maintain : Proactively monitor our systems with CheckMK, manage storage on Pure Storage and HPE, and ensure the health of our Citrix delivery platforms as well as other key technologies. Troubleshoot & Resolve : Act as a final escalation point for complex technical issues, performing deep‑dive root cause analysis and collaborating with support teams to ensure timely resolution. Collaborate & Innovate : Work closely with a team of skilled engineers to share knowledge, improve processes, and evaluate emerging technologies. Provide Critical Support : Participate in a rotating on‑call schedule to provide after‑hours support for critical infrastructure. Flexibility : Ability to work weekends for project roll outs, maintenance tasks, etc. Technical Skills Virtualization: Redhat OpenShift, VMware ESXi/vCenter, Proxmox VE Application & Desktop Delivery: Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, Citrix NetScaler (ADC) Storage: Pure Storage, HPE Monitoring: CheckMK or similar enterprise monitoring tools QUALIFICATIONS Experience: A minimum of 8 years in a system engineering role, with a strong preference for experience in a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment. Leadership: A minimum 2‑3 years of experience in a formal leadership role, including people management, mentorship, and team development. Problem‑Solver: You are a logical thinker with a talent for identifying the root cause of an issue and implementing effective, long‑term solutions. Ownership: You are a self‑starter who can work independently but also knows when to engage the team to mitigate risk and achieve project goals. Resilience: You perform well under pressure and can manage priorities effectively, even with short deadlines. Certifications: Industry certifications like Azure Solutions Architect Expert, MCSE, VCP, or CCP are highly desirable. Availability: You must be able to work Eastern Time (EST) business hours and be available for occasional night/weekend work as part of the on‑call rotation.
