Overview The GL Accountant ensures accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with Philippine Financial Reporting (PFRS) and internal policies. This role blends daily transactions processing, month-end closing, loan-specific accounting, reconciliations and providing analytical insights to support strategic decision-making. Responsibilities Prepare and post journals including accruals, prepaid, deferrals, intercompany entries and loan-related adjustments. Manage a timely monthly close process, ensuring balance sheet integrity and clean trial balances. Handle loan accounting cycles: interest accruals, principal adjustments, loan loss provisions, reclassification of non-performing loans. Align loan metrics and accounting to PFRS, ensuring proper cut-offs and accurate timeline of interest recognition. Conduct regular reconciliations of balance sheet accounts: bank, intercompany, fixed assets, prepaids, accruals and loan receivables. Perform sub-ledger vs GL comparisons, escalations on discrepancies and assist stakeholders in resolving mispostings. Assist in drafting financial reports, including audited financial statements, for submission to management and regulatory bodies. Support external and internal audits by preparing schedules (e.g. trial balance, payroll, fixed assets, intercompany) and clarifying accounting treatments. Manage fixed asset ledger: capitalization, depreciation schedules and reconciliations. Post and reconcile intercompany transactions; prepare debit/credit notes and settlement entries. Analyze existing accounting workflows and suggest improvements to streamline processes and increase automation efficiency. Maintain accurate process documentation, supporting a strong internal control environment and continuity of operations. Liaise with operations, credit, audit and collection teams to resolve accounting issues and ensure timely availability of data. Prepare and present a daily proofsheet of accounting transactions. Prepare monthly financial results and variance analyses to Finance and Accounting Manager or relevant management. Qualifications Educational Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. Experience Level: 3-5 years of relevant experience in accounting roles. Skills and Competencies: Proficient in Accounts Payable, Financial Management, QuickBooks, and Financial Analysis. Responsibilities and Duties: Managing general ledger, performing reconciliations, and overseeing bookkeeping tasks. Working Conditions: Office environment with standard hours; may require overtime during month-end close.
