Video Production Team Head

Overview

Video Production Team Head responsible for executing the video content strategy, planning and overseeing day-to-day video production and operations, and ensuring video content supports traffic, engagement, and monetization across channels.

Responsibilities
  • Execute the over-all video content strategy and review/advise on tweaks to the Chief Content Officer as needed.
  • Plan strategic video content and oversee day-to-day video production and operations.
  • Develop innovations in video content and execution as a standalone product and as a complement to other content for visually impactful storytelling.
  • Manage video production and other video unit staff functionally and administratively.
  • Collaborate with Channel Editors to enhance existing content with video.
  • Coordinate with Social Media, Analytics, and Design teams to ensure video content contributes to traffic, engagement, monetization and targets across channels.
  • Direct the video production process and provide technical advice and techniques in video production.
  • Audit video execution on all platforms to ensure quality, on-brand video galleries, stories, clips, and other video content.
  • Help write scripts or lead-ins for videos to be produced.
  • Spearhead live-streamed or posted news coverage and other video-focused storytelling.
  • Determine training needs of video production staff and recommend learning resources.
  • Participate in editorial and special meetings to coordinate video content direction and planning.
  • Ensure Editorial Stylebook guidelines are observed in all videos and live streams.
  • Align video team targets with editorial page views, video views, and social media engagement targets.
  • Assist in ideation, testing, and R&D of products/initiatives related to video and multimedia (beyond text and photo).
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Education
  • College Graduate, Multimedia Arts, Journalism, Mass Communications, Marketing, Advertising, or related field.
Work Experience
  • At least five (5) years of experience in Journalism, Broadcast Journalism, or video coverage operations management for a local media outlet.
  • At least two (2) years in a people management role in video coverage operations.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in copy editing.
  • On-camera experience such as hosting is preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Expertise in all aspects of video production for digital distribution (theory, conceptualization, execution, post-production, operations management, monetization).
  • A nose for news and current affairs; familiarity with data analytics-driven content creation is helpful.
