Overview

The University of Alabama at Birmingham Temp Service is seeking an Animal Laboratory Technician I - Temp to work under close supervision and according to established policies and procedures. Responsibilities include maintaining the animal colony and laboratory facilities in an orderly and sanitary condition and administering special diets and drugs for experimental purposes as directed. The position involves moving equipment and supplies in and around university departments and performing laboratory housekeeping duties. This entry-level position is the first year of the two year program.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain animal colony and laboratory facilities in an orderly and sanitary condition.
  • Administer special diets and drugs for experimental purposes as directed.
  • Move equipment and supplies in and around university departments.
  • Perform laboratory housekeeping duties.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must be able to follow detailed instructions and maintain a high standard of cleanliness and care.
  • Strong interest in animal care and research support.
  • Ability to lift/move equipment and perform physically active duties throughout the day.
  • Willingness to learn and pursue AALAS certification.
