This role is listed for application to the API Platform Engineer, a senior resource role focused on API development and platform management. Responsibilities The API Platform Engineer should be a senior level resource that has had at least 7 years experience in developing APIs and managing API Gateways and other API Platform Technologies. Conduct analysis on Business Requirements and prepares program specifications at the systems level for simple to minor systems or modules. Develop or maintain, test and implement modules according to system specifications. Identify all possible scenarios and prepares tests for the systems under development. Execute test plan during development and system testing and provide user acceptance testing or other testing support as required to ensure that the system processing reflects user requirements / designs. Provide post-implementation and production support for systems including analysis of production problems. Perform implementation activities such as program promotions, installation of the system, training and tutorial for end users. Perform development/update of the Users Manual, Systems Manual and Operations documents. Provide updates and status reports to the project manager during the course of development and related support activities. In charge of a system module and identify areas for improvement/enhancement on existing system modules or on the entire system, and on new ones being developed. Determine, analyze, and transform business requirements to produce design specifications at the system and programming levels. Experience and Skills The API Platform Engineer should have experience in developing backend applications (APIs, Microservices) preferably in Java, Spring Boot or NodeJS, with Docker development. Minimum 7 years of progressive information technology experience with backend / API development lifecycle and systems integration experience. Strong knowledge of AWS, including AWS data/automation services such as Step Functions, Lambda, EC2, DynamoDB. Experience managing and maintaining API platforms such as AWS API Gateway, Light4j Technologies, SwaggerHub, Postman and similar tools. Experience building microservices with integration to third party partners. Experience in Release Management and Configuration Management best practices. Working knowledge of tech stack including Java, J2EE, WebLogic, WebSphere, Eclipse, Unix, Windows Server. Experience with source code management tools such as Bitbucket, Git, etc. Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, SonarQube, JUnit, etc. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze business problems systematically and deliver effective right-sized solutions in a timely manner. Proven analysis and design/development skills on AWS platforms. Experience following SDLC methodologies and quality concepts; experience in an Agile environment. Attitude / Behavior Good organizational skills with the ability to handle several tasks efficiently. Ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders and adapt approach when dealing with technical and non-technical audiences. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative multi-site team. Excellent organizing, planning and time management skills.
