The Database Administrator will be part of the Group Functions Global Actuarial IT Support and will be responsible for providing service and support to the Actuarial Business, Systems, Platforms, and Databases. We are looking for someone with strong analytical skills and solid operational & vendor management experience to support the IT needs and requirements, non-production and production fixes of the application. The candidate must have strong interpersonal skills, working with stakeholders and support teams across the globe.

Position Responsibilities:
  1. Perform database tuning and performance monitoring
  2. Perform SQL Server installation, upgrade, patches, and troubleshooting
  3. Develop maintenance plans for SQL Servers and Application Servers
  4. Take immediate actions when database and application performance issues arise
  5. Execute database and application implementations/deployments
  6. Perform periodic backups and restore procedures if needed or requested
  7. Administration of third-party applications
  8. Maintain documentation procedures and standards
  9. Attend team, client, and vendor meetings to discuss plans, growth, changes, and issues
  10. Respond to Level 1 and Level 3 Support team concerns/questions
  11. Identify areas of improvement and collaborate to drive change focusing on efficiency and risk management
Required Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  2. 2 to 3 years’ experience with IAAS and PAAS databases; SQL Server Databases
  3. Understanding of Relational Database Management System concepts
  4. Intermediate skills in SQL Scripting, Powershell, MS SQL, Azure, FTP/SFTP, SSIS, DTA, SQL profiler
  5. Experience in Database Management and Administration
  6. Experience in Disaster Recovery Planning & High Availability Setup
  7. SQL Server / Database Troubleshooting Skills
  8. Knowledge of change & release management, ITIL4, and project management
  9. Experience working in DevOps environments or familiarity with DevOps
  10. Understanding of software development lifecycle
  11. Knowledge of how technology supports Manulife's business strategy
  12. Amenable to work in UP Ayala Technohub (Quezon City)
  13. Amenable to work on a hybrid setup (3x a week onsite)
  14. Amenable to work in any shift schedule assigned (rotating shift; flexible depending on business need)
