About the role This role is for an experienced engineer who takes a lead role in the design, implementation, and optimization of complex backup and storage infrastructure. This individual is responsible for strategic planning, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring the resilience and performance of data systems. As a Sr Backup Engineer you will: Design and implement advanced backup and recovery strategies, including disaster recovery (DR) solutions and business continuity planning. Optimize storage performance, capacity utilization, and data efficiency across diverse storage platforms (SAN, NAS, object, cloud). Evaluate new backup and storage technologies, conduct proof-of-concepts, and recommend solutions to improve existing infrastructure. Lead and participate in disaster recovery testing exercises, identifying gaps and driving improvements. Automate backup, recovery, and storage management tasks using advanced scripting (Python, PowerShell) and orchestration tools. Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior backup and storage engineers, fostering their growth and development. Perform advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex backup failures and storage performance issues. What we’re looking for Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master's degree preferred). 5+ years of extensive experience in designing, implementing, and managing enterprise-level backup and storage solutions. Expertise in multiple leading backup platforms (e.g., Veeam, Commvault, NetBackup, Cohesity, Rubrik) and their advanced features. NetBackup Flex Appliance is a must. Deep understanding and practical experience with various storage technologies (e.g., NetApp, Dell EMC Isilon/PowerStore, Pure Storage, HPE 3PAR).
