Senior Developer

We are currently on the lookout for bright, talented and dedicated developers to provide expertise, maintenance, support, and 24/7 system monitoring for Sandstone applications deployed on-prem for one of our key clients, one of the Big Four Banks.Working in an agile team, you’ll proactively identify and drive service improvements, resolve problems, respond and resolve incidents, and ensure changes to applications are implemented effectively. Responsibilities will include: Working on application codebase to resolve defects and implement improvements to provide a better experience for the end user. Developing and implementing short-term and/or long-term solutions with appreciation of upstream and downstream system impacts. Building code changes that permanently resolve application problems. Participating in design workshops to enhance current and future solutions. Supporting monitoring of the external environment and assessment of emerging technologies to evaluate the potential impacts, threats, and opportunities to the organisation. Contributing to the creation of reports, technology road mapping, and the sharing of knowledge and insights. Investigating operational needs and problems, and opportunities, contributing to the recommendation of improvements in automated and non-automated components of new or changed processes and organisation. Assisting in defining acceptance tests for these recommendations. Undertaking complete design of moderately complex software applications or components applying agreed standards, patterns, and tools. Assisting as part of a team in the design of components of larger software systems. Specifying user and/or system interfaces. Creating multiple design views to address the concerns of the different stakeholders of the design and to handle separately functional and non-functional requirements. Assisting in the evaluation of options and trade-offs. Collaborating in reviews of work with others as appropriate. Designing, coding, verifying, testing, documenting, amending, and refactoring complex programs/scripts and integration software services. Contributing to the selection of the software development approach for projects, selecting appropriately from predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches. Applying agreed standards and tools, to achieve well-engineered outcomes. Participating in reviews of own work and leading reviews of colleagues' work. Producing software builds from software source code. Conducting tests as defined in an integration test specification, recording the details of any failures. Analyzing and reporting on integration test activities and results. Identifying and reporting issues and risks. Assisting in the configuration of software and equipment and the systems testing of platform-specific versions of one or more software products. Documenting faults, implementing resolutions, and retesting to agreed standards. Using agreed procedures to create and maintain an accurate register of assets. Performing activities related to administration of assets. Producing routine reports to assist asset management activities and decision making. Maintaining current knowledge of malware attacks and other cybersecurity threats. Creating test cases using in-depth technical analysis of risks and typical vulnerabilities. Producing test scripts, materials, and test packs to test new and existing software or services. Specifying requirements for environment, data, resources, and tools. Interpreting, executing, and documenting complex test scripts using agreed methods and standards. Recording and analyzing actions and results. Reviewing test results and modifying tests if necessary. Providing reports on progress, anomalies, risks, and issues associated with the overall project. Reporting on system quality and collecting metrics on test cases. Providing specialist advice to support others. Assisting in the investigation and resolution of issues relating to applications. Assisting with specified maintenance procedures. About You: Analytical mindset, natural curiosity, and an ability to think outside of the box to solve problems. Experience leading a team or mentoring/coaching other Developers. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to express and put forward your ideas and to liaise with both technical and non-technical team members as well as internal and external client teams. Excellent communication skills and ability to confidently communicate with customers. Ability to research and troubleshoot technical problems. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to work as part of a fast-paced and dynamic team. Technical Proficiency: 5+ years of both front-end and back-end development:o JAVA 1.8+ programming experience using IDE (i.e. Eclipse).o Experience with MS SQL and Rest API, SOAP web services.o Understanding of back-end frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, and Hibernate.o Typescript, CSS, SASS.o Redux (preferably NgRx) and RxJS.o Experience with Bootstrap is preferable but not essential. Experience with Git and Azure for version control. Experience with Jenkins for deployment. Experience with application monitoring tools such as Splunk and Dynatrace, an advantage. Demonstrated experience in ensuring quality code and continuous improvement. Degree qualified in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. Why Sandstone?
