Overseas Operations Support Engineer (Philippines) Whale Cloud Taguig, National Capital Region, Philippines Duration: 4 days ago Be among the first 25 applicants Direct message the job poster from Whale Cloud Job Description: You will serve as a guardian of our global risk control systems, delivering high-quality technical support and operations services to top-tier clients across the Philippines and the Asia‑Pacific region. This role combines deep technical expertise with strong customer engagement, acting as a vital bridge between our products and the success of our overseas clients. Key Responsibilities: Core Operations & System Reliability: Responsible for the delivery, deployment, upgrade, monitoring, and daily maintenance of Tongdun risk control products at client sites, ensuring 24/7 system availability and stability. Advanced Technical Support: Act as a technical expert to promptly identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues through remote or on‑site support. Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures to avoid recurrence. Assist clients with system planning, capacity assessment, performance tuning, and disaster recovery drills to enhance system stability, reliability, and operational resilience. Cross‑Team Coordination: Serve as the key liaison between clients and internal R&D teams, accurately conveying client requirements and on‑site issues to drive timely resolution and continuous product improvement. On‑Call Duty: Participate in a 24/7 on‑call rotation, demonstrating strong technical proficiency and the ability to handle critical production incidents with composure and effective problem‑solving. Development & Operations Fundamentals: Strong Java development background with expert‑level proficiency in Linux. Skilled in system deployment, log analysis, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting using command‑line tools. Hands‑on experience with the Hadoop and Spark ecosystems. Familiarity with deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting of at least one or two components such as Flink, Hive, or HBase. Middleware & Distributed Systems: In‑depth understanding and practical experience with Nginx, Tomcat, Kafka, Redis, Zookeeper, and Elasticsearch in configuration, optimization, and issue resolution. Networking: Strong grasp of TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, and DNS protocols with proven network troubleshooting capabilities. Monitoring & Observability: Proficient in building dashboards and alerting systems using Grafana and Prometheus. Experience in querying and analyzing logs through platforms such as ELK Stack or equivalent. Good‑to‑Have: Experience in deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting Kubernetes (K8s) clusters. Hands‑on experience in designing or operating high‑availability and disaster recovery architectures (e.g. active‑active or multi‑region setups). Background in financial technology, risk control systems, or enterprise‑level B2B software operations and support. Personal Attributes: Strong customer service mindset with excellent communication and coordination skills. Highly responsible, proactive, and ownership‑driven in driving task completion. Excellent cross‑cultural collaboration skills, capable of working efficiently with teams across multiple time zones. Language Requirements: Proficiency in English and a local Philippine language (e.g. Tagalog). Chinese‑speaking candidates are preferred.
