Purpose and Position in Organisation The AI Engineer plays a pivotal role in shaping company's AI Services capabilities, including modular service endpoints, intelligent agents, and our AI orchestration platform. This role is central to delivering the digital strategy by providing technical implementation expertise across both customer-facing and internal AI solutions.Reporting Line and People Management Reports to: AI Technical LeadPerformance Outcomes / Accountabilities Timely delivery of robust, scalable AI services, agents and components. Rapid deployment of prototype and MVP tools that accelerate validation and iteration cycles. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and deploy modular AI services and orchestration components that are scalable, reusable, and aligned with enterprise architecture. Translate technical requirements into clean, maintainable code and well-structured service implementations. Collaborate with architects, product managers, and other engineers to deliver AI capabilities that meet business and user needs. Rapidly prototype and deliver MVPs to test hypotheses, validate concepts, and gather early feedback from stakeholders. Implement and optimise AI pipelines, including model integration, inference services, and telemetry feedback loops. Contribute to the evolution of the AI orchestration platform, ensuring seamless integration of services, agents, and APIs. Apply best practices in software engineering, including CI/CD, automated testing, and secure coding. Fine-tune and deploy custom models, including LLMs, and support self-learning systems using feedback and telemetry. Work closely with data engineers to integrate AI services with structured and unstructured data sources, including knowledge graphs and semantic search. Maintain technical documentation and ensure compliance with governance and security standards. Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives. Technical Skills Core Development & Platform Expertise Proficient in C# and the .NET ecosystem Experience with Azure services (e.g., Azure Functions, App Services, DevOps, API Management, AI Search). Familiarity with microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and service orchestration patterns. Comfortable using generative AI tools to support development workflows. AI & Machine Learning Hands-on experience with ML frameworks (e.g., ML.NET, PyTorch, TensorFlow). Skilled in fine-tuning and evaluating models, including LLMs and transformer-based architectures. Familiarity with prompt engineering, RAG, and agent-based AI systems. Experience building adaptive systems using feedback loops and telemetry. Data Engineering & Integration Understanding of ETL/ELT pipelines and real-time data streaming (Databricks, Snowflake a plus). Experience with search technologies and knowledge graph integration. Proficient in integrating AI services with diverse data sources. DevOps & Quality Familiar with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing. Knowledge of MLOps practices for deploying and monitoring AI models in production environments.
