Job Summary

The Safety Officer 2 (SO2) is a strategic safety and business continuity leader responsible for implementing, managing, and continuously improving the organization\'s occupational safety, health, digital security, and business resilience programs tailored for a remote work setup. The role involves fostering a safety culture, ensuring compliance with regulations, and strengthening organizational resilience through proactive planning and employee engagement across all remote locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Occupational Safety & Health Management (Remote Focus)
  • Develop, implement, and monitor remote work safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Conduct virtual ergonomic risk assessments and provide guidance on setting up safe, healthy remote workstations.
  • Organize online safety awareness campaigns, training sessions, and wellness initiatives, including mental health support.
  • Investigate and document remote work incidents or hazards, recommending mitigation measures.
  • Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery (in tandem with IT)
  • Develop, review, and maintain the company’s Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies specific to remote operations.
  • Lead virtual BCP drills, tabletop exercises, and scenario planning.
  • Identify critical remote business functions and dependencies; coordinate recovery efforts during disruptions.
  • Communicate BCP procedures effectively to all remote employees and provide ongoing training.
  • Emergency Response & Crisis Management
  • Serve as the lead for emergency preparedness, including health crises, cyber incidents, natural disasters, and technical failures.
  • Create and communicate clear remote emergency protocols, including incident reporting and access to support.
  • Liaise with local authorities and other stakeholders for emergency response readiness.
  • Employee Health & Wellness
  • Promote mental health awareness and wellness programs targeting remote employees.
  • Facilitate virtual health checks, stress management, and work-life balance initiatives.
  • Monitor employee well-being and provide resources or referrals as needed.
  • Digital & Cybersecurity Awareness (in tandem with IT)
  • Collaborate with IT to promote cybersecurity best practices and safe data handling among remote employees.
  • Help in the conduct of virtual training on cybersecurity threats such as phishing, password management, and safe internet use.
  • Encourage responsible use of company devices and safeguarding company data.
  • Safety Culture & Engagement
  • Foster a safety and well-being culture through virtual initiatives, challenges, and recognition programs.
  • Regularly gather feedback from remote employees on safety concerns and program effectiveness via surveys, virtual town halls, or focus groups.
  • Policy Development & Compliance
  • Draft, update, and communicate safety, health, cybersecurity, and BCP policies tailored for remote work.
  • Monitor compliance with local and international laws, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Data Management & Reporting
  • Maintain databases of incidents, hazards, and safety-related data.
  • Use data analytics to identify trends and recommend improvements.
  • Prepare regular safety, health, cybersecurity, and BCP reports for management review.
  • Technology & Safety Tools Administration
  • Assist in selecting, deploying, and managing digital safety and incident reporting tools.
  • Train employees on using these tools effectively for reporting hazards or incidents.
  • Vendor & Third-Party Coordination
  • Collaborate with third-party providers such as health services, internet providers, or safety consultants involved in supporting remote work safety.
  • Environmental & Sustainability Practices
  • Promote responsible and sustainable remote work habits, including energy conservation and waste reduction.
  • Advocate for environmentally responsible practices in remote work setups.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, Psychology, or related fields.
  • Certified Safety Officer 2 with completed 40-hour BOSH training from a DOLE accredited provider.
  • Preferably is certified in First Aid and Basic Life Support.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in remote work environments or BPO/IT sectors.
  • Knowledge of OSH standards, cyber security basics, BCP, and remote ergonomics.
  • Strong communication, policy documentation, virtual facilitation, and engagement skills.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively across teams.
