JOB SUMMARY: (In a few lines, describe the over-all job or function of the position)
We are looking for a Safety Officer who's willing to be assigned in Mabalacat Pampanga.
The Safety Officer plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of personnel, equipment, and the environment at the project site. Reporting to the Project Manager, the Safety Officer is responsible for implementing and enforcing safety policies, procedures, and regulations to prevent accidents, injuries, and hazards. They collaborate with project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to promote a culture of safety and compliance with safety standards and best practices.
DUTY (Critical/key obligation to perform)
SAFETY POLICY IMPLEMENTATION:
· Implement and enforce safety policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure compliance with legal requirements and industry standards.
· Develop and communicate site-specific safety plans, protocols, and emergency procedures to project teams, subcontractors, and personnel.
SAFETY INSPECTION AND AUDITS:
· Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards, unsafe conditions, and safety violations.
· Prepare inspection reports, document findings, and recommend corrective actions to mitigate risks and improve safety performance.
SAFETY TRAINING AND EDUCATION:
· Provide safety training, orientation, and awareness programs for project personnel, subcontractors, and new hires.
· Facilitate toolbox talks, safety meetings, and educational sessions to promote safety awareness and best practices on site.
INCIDENT INVESTIGATION AND REPORTING:
· Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes, contributing factors, and lessons learned.
· Prepare incident reports, document findings, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence and improve safety performance.
SAFETY COMMUNICATION AND COLLABORATION:
· Communicate safety policies, procedures, and initiatives to project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to promote understanding and compliance.
· Collaborate with project teams to integrate safety requirements into project planning, scheduling, and execution.
SAFETY COMPLIANCE MONITORING:
· Monitor and enforce compliance with safety regulations, standards, and best practices by conducting site inspections and audits.
· Review and evaluate subcontractor safety programs, practices, and performance to ensure alignment with project safety requirements.
EMERGENCY RESPONSE AND PREPAREDNESS:
· Coordinate emergency response activities and drills to ensure preparedness for potential emergencies, such as fires, accidents, or natural disasters.
· Establish communication protocols, evacuation procedures, and emergency response plans to minimize risks and protect personnel.
PROFILE OF JOB / POSITION HOLDER
EDUCATIONAL ATTAINMENT:
· Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent work experience in occupational safety may be considered in lieu of a degree.
CERTIFICATIONS:
· Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., OSHA 30-hour General Industry) is highly desirable.
EXPERIENCE:
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in a safety-related role, preferably in a manufacturing, construction, or industrial setting.
· Experience conducting safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate safety policies, procedures, and training materials.
· Strong interpersonal skills to interact with project-based employees at all levels of the organization, as well as regulatory agencies and external stakeholders.
ANALYTICAL SKILLS:
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify safety hazards, assess risks, and develop effective control measures.
· Ability to analyze incident data and trends to proactively address potential safety issues.
LEADERSHIP ABILITIES:
· Demonstrated leadership qualities with the ability to influence and motivate others to prioritize safety.
· Proven track record of implementing safety initiatives and driving continuous improvement in safety performance.
ATTENTION TO DETAILS:
· Attention to detail and accuracy in conducting safety inspections, documenting findings, and maintaining records.
· Ability to review safety procedures and protocols for completeness and effectiveness.
REGULATORY KNOWLEDGE:
· Comprehensive understanding of federal, state, and local safety regulations applicable to the industry.
· Ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
TEAM COLLABORATION:
· Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to address safety concerns and implement solutions.
· A willingness to listen to feedback from employees and incorporate their input into safety programs and initiatives.
EMERGENCY RESPONSE SKILLS:
· Knowledge of emergency response procedures and protocols, including fire safety, evacuation plans, and first aid/CPR.
· Experience coordinating emergency drills and exercises to ensure preparedness.
CONTINUOUS LEARNING:
· Commitment to staying updated on emerging trends, best practices, and advancements in occupational health and safety.
· Willingness to pursue additional training and certifications to enhance professional development.
