We are looking for mid to senior level Software Support Engineers with Unix and web application experience to support trading applications used internationally. The Software Support Engineer will diagnose and respond to client issues related to product functionality and provide timely solutions.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strategic thinking, analytics, organizational, and interpersonal strengths. They should be technically proficient and collaborative, with accountability for issue resolution.
About the Role- Provide software application support for Java/web applications in an AWS infrastructure
- Possess specialist knowledge of operating systems, devices, applications, and software
- Consult with the software development team, internal users, and clients to improve application performance
- Manage a ticketing system and maintain a comprehensive database of queries and resolutions
- Establish root causes of application errors and escalate serious concerns to Architecture and Development teams
- Perform analyses on software functionality and suggest improvements
- Communicate with other vendors maintaining infrastructure
- Configure and maintain application services
- Develop run books of operational processes and strive to automate where possible
- Improve monitoring of the platform and own the related tools/dashboards
- Troubleshoot tickets from customers and handle incidents affecting application services
- Continuously improve the team, tools, and processes
- 5+ years of 2nd and 3rd line client-facing application support
- Knowledgeable in UNIX/Linux commands and functions
- Experience supporting a highly automated and dynamic cloud environment (AWS preferred)
- Proven experience with cloud-based technologies including Linux/Unix, AWS, GCP or Azure
- Strong Linux/Unix administration experience
- Good knowledge of databases, schemas, structures, and ability to write and debug SQL queries
- Experience with systems such as Tomcat, Nginx, Zookeeper, SolrCloud, Kafka
- Experience handling multiple client problems daily, researching for answers, and communicating with clients
- Experience creating client-facing documentation (workshops, manuals, guides, etc.)
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience with ticketing systems (e.g., Jira/Jira Service Desk)
- Ability to follow documented procedures accurately
- Ability and willingness to work extra hours during crises
- Willing to work on a 24x7 shifting schedule
- Experience with Tomcat, Nginx, Zookeeper, SolrCloud, Kafka
- Experience with MongoDB (desired but not required)
- Experience with scripting languages (beneficial but not required)
- Experience with FIX (Financial Information eXchange) applications (desirable but not required)
