Senior Technical Program Manager, Big Data

Overview As a Senior Technical Program Manager, Big Data on Zillow’s Data Engineering team, you will work closely with multiple product and analytics organizations. You will contribute to the design and implementation of data engineering solutions that will enable key metrics and insights for the organization. You will work with stakeholders to define the end-to-end data solutions for business metrics and analytics products. Responsibilities Work with Data Engineering leadership in defining the roadmap and technical architecture (data flow) aligned to overall organizational and business objectives Work with analytics teams, machine learning, and product teams to understand use cases and requirements Work with stakeholders and partners to migrate from older datasets to new Analytical datasets developed by data engineering Partner with data engineers on your team to deliver compelling solutions that meet the data demands of end users and internal business needs Iterate quickly, test new ideas, and analyze results Location and Compensation This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions. Who you are 8+ years of Technical Program Management experience with related technologies, including leading significant cross-functional projects in mid-size or large companies 4+ years of hands-on experience building software solutions within current industry standard technologies in big data 4+ years of experience working with development teams to design/architect data engineering solutions Strong understanding of data modeling best practices Strong knowledge of SQL Strong understanding of Big data technologies like Spark, Airflow Understanding of cloud-based architecture Working knowledge of current data architecture standards in the industry Outstanding oral and written communication skills, the ability to think clearly, analyze quantitatively, problem-solve, scope technical requirements, and prioritize tasks Strong business and technical vision (and the ability to communicate that vision clearly) Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment Deep understanding of software development in a team, and a track record of shipping software on time Strong customer relationship skills, including the ability to discover true requirements underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet bold timelines with optimal solutions About Zillow Zillow is reimagining real estate to make it easier to unlock life’s next chapter.
