Overview

Systems Administrator - Virtualization Environment — Onsite work setup required. We are seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to manage and maintain our virtualized infrastructure environment. This role focuses on virtualization technologies, proactive system monitoring, and responding to critical issues during on-call rotations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Infrastructure Management: Administer and maintain VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, or similar virtualization platforms; monitor VM performance, resource allocation, and capacity planning; manage virtual networking, storage configurations, and backup solutions; implement and maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutions; perform regular system updates, patches, and security maintenance.
  • Operations & Monitoring: Monitor system health, performance metrics, and alerts through centralized management tools; troubleshoot and resolve virtualization-related issues including VM provisioning, migration, and performance optimization; maintain documentation for configurations, procedures, and incident responses; coordinate with vendors and support teams; generate regular reports on system performance, capacity, and availability.
  • Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain security best practices for virtualized environments; ensure compliance with organizational security policies and industry standards; manage user access controls and authentication systems; conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability management.
Required Qualifications Technical Skills
  • 3+ years of experience managing virtualization environments (VMware vSphere 8.0/v9.0, Microsoft Hyper-V, or equivalent)
  • Proficiency with Windows Server and Linux operating systems
  • Experience with storage technologies (SAN, NAS, iSCSI, Fibre Channel)
  • Strong networking knowledge, including VLANs, routing, and firewall management
  • Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery solutions
  • Experience with monitoring tools (SCOM, Nagios, PRTG, or similar)
Professional Requirements
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  • Relevant certifications preferred (VCP, MCSE, CompTIA Server+, or similar)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Experience with remote administration tools and secure access methods
Working Conditions
  • Fully onsite for hardware installations or critical maintenance
  • Must have a reliable high-speed internet connection and a dedicated workspace
  • Company-provided equipment and access to necessary software tools
On-Call Requirements
  • Participation in rotating on-call schedule (typically 1 week every 4-6 weeks)
  • Response time of 30 minutes for critical alerts during on-call periods
  • Availability for emergency maintenance windows and system outages
  • Flexible schedule to accommodate different time zones for global infrastructure
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Knowledge of automation tools (PowerShell, Python, Ansible)
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • ITIL certification or framework experience
  • Previous experience in 24/7 operations environments
