Direct message the job poster from Q2 HR Solutions The Settlement Officer serves as the Unit Head of the Settlement Team, responsible for overseeing the end-to-end processing of trade and transaction settlements within the bank’s operations or back-office function. This role leads a team of settlement analysts and specialists, ensuring operational accuracy, regulatory compliance, and timely execution of trade transactions. The officer independently manages workload, drives process improvements, and influences department-wide decisions. With advanced expertise in settlement systems and regulatory frameworks, the Settlement Officer acts as a key liaison across departments and external counterparties, while also spearheading projects and initiatives that enhance operational efficiency. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Process client trades, and securities transactions accurately and on time. Coordinate with counterparties, brokers, and custodians to confirm and settle trades. Monitor market terminals for last-minute changes and ensure settlement before cut-off times. Perform daily reconciliation of settlement transactions. Generate and analyze reports on transaction volumes, delays, and error rates. Reconcile trade confirmations between internal systems and market terminals. Investigate failed trades, chargebacks, and disputes; identify root causes and communicate resolutions. Address customer complaints and regulatory escalations within SLA. Ensure adherence to internal controls, regulatory standards, and operational risk policies. Validate payment and settlement instructions (SSIs) for accuracy. Serve as liaison between clients, relationship managers, and internal departments. Maintain and update client portfolio and transaction records. Participate in system upgrades and testing of new settlement platforms. Identify and implement process improvements for efficiency and automation. Support client onboarding, compliance documentation, and financing disbursements. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field. 3–5 years of relevant experience in banking or investment operations, specifically in back-office functions. Advanced proficiency in specialized tools and settlement systems (e.g., NRoSS, PDS System) Strong understanding of trade lifecycle, financial instruments, and regulatory frameworks. Specialized experience in securities settlement. Familiarity with banking platforms, investment systems, and financial tools. Proven ability to execute defined tasks independently within a team environment. Experience in roles involving operational back-office support. Capable of making independent decisions and solving moderately complex problems with some guidance.
