A Technical Purchaser in a telecom company isresponsible for the strategic sourcing, evaluation, and procurement of specialized telecommunications equipment, materials, and services. This role requires a blend of technical expertise to understand complex specifications and strong commercial acumen for negotiation and vendor management. Key Responsibilities Sourcing and Procurement: Manage the end-to-end sourcing process for materials, components, and services, ensuring alignment with project and technical requirements. Technical Evaluation: Evaluate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical specifications (e.g., engineering drawings, datasheets) to ensure compliance with quality, performance, and safety standards. Supplier Management: Identify, qualify, and build strong relationships with local and international suppliers and vendors (e.g., network operators, data center providers). Monitor their performance based on key metrics like cost, quality, and delivery reliability. Negotiation and Contract Management: Lead price and contract negotiations, including Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Master Service Agreements (MSAs), to secure the most advantageous terms and drive cost savings. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal departments, such as Engineering, IT, Project Management, and Finance, to understand their procurement needs and ensure seamless execution of initiatives. Cost Analysis and Control: Conduct market research and cost analyses to identify trends, benchmark pricing, and implement cost-reduction strategies. Inventory and Logistics Coordination: Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstocking, and coordinate with logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of goods. Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate records of all procurement activities, purchase orders, and contracts in ERP systems, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations. Issue Resolution: Act as a primary point of contact for resolving issues related to delivery discrepancies, quality problems, or invoicing with suppliers. Essential Skills and Qualifications Education: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Civil, or Industrial preferred), Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Technical Knowledge: Strong ability to read and interpret technical specifications, engineering drawings, and an understanding of telecom equipment and infrastructure. Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making. Negotiation and Communication: Strong negotiation prowess and excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Software Proficiency: Experience with procurement software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and strong Microsoft Office skills.
