Tax Specialist

The Tax Officer is responsible for ensuring the company’s full compliance with national and local tax laws and regulations. This role manages the accurate preparation, filing, and payment of all tax returns and statutory obligations, including VAT, withholding tax, income tax, and other government-mandated remittances. The Tax Officer also supports audit preparations, tax reporting, and the implementation of tax-related policies to maintain the company’s financial integrity and compliance with regulatory standards. Duties and Responsibilities: Prepare, review, and file all required tax returns (e.g., VAT, EWT, Income Tax, Percentage Tax, and other statutory filings) accurately and on time. Ensure compliance with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) regulations, local government tax requirements, and other relevant agencies. Monitor the tax calendar to ensure timely submission and payment of all tax obligations to prevent penalties and surcharges. Reconcile tax-related accounts and validate supporting documents for accurate reporting. Maintain complete and organized tax records, schedules, and documentation for audit and reference purposes. Coordinate and assist during BIR audits, tax assessments, and other regulatory reviews. Analyze the impact of new or updated tax laws and regulations and recommend compliance measures. Collaborate with the Accounting and Finance teams to ensure correct tax treatment of company transactions. Prepare tax certifications, computations, and reconciliations for employees, suppliers, and government agencies. Support month-end and year-end closing activities related to tax reporting and accruals. Identify opportunities for tax savings, credits, and process improvements in compliance with applicable laws. Perform other related tasks as may be assigned by the Finance & Tax Compliance Supervisor or Management. Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration. Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in tax compliance, preferably in logistics, transportation, or related industries. Strong knowledge of Philippine tax laws, BIR filing procedures, and TRAIN Law (Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion). Experience in using BIR online filing systems (eFPS, eBIRForms) and ERP/accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks). Excellent attention to detail and analytical thinking. Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and WPS Office applications. Effective communication and interpersonal skills for coordination with government agencies and internal departments. High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism in handling sensitive financial information. Organizational Relationships: Reports directly to the Finance & Tax Compliance Supervisor (FTCS) and works closely with the Accounting Department , Finance Team , and other departments to ensure compliance with all tax regulations. #J-18808-Ljbffr
