As an IT System Administrator, you'll be responsible for managing activity logs across organizational systems to ensure accountability, security, and compliance. You'll configure logging on critical systems, monitor for suspicious activities, and support incident response efforts. What You'll Do Configure and enable activity logging on all critical systems (e.g., authentication, file storage, HR systems, code repositories, ticketing platforms, cloud applications). Ensure logs capture essential details, including user identity, time, system accessed, and actions performed. Store logs in secure, tamper-resistant systems. Apply retention schedules in alignment with organizational policies and regulatory requirements. Perform regular reviews of logs to detect unauthorized or suspicious activity. Implement alerts and reports where feasible to automate detection. Investigate anomalies or suspicious log entries. Escalate incidents to leadership or external security partners as appropriate. Provide log data to support security investigations or audits. Compliance & Reporting Maintain evidence of logging controls for audits and compliance reviews. Provide periodic status reports to management on log health and findings. Periodically review logging configurations to ensure completeness and effectiveness. Update logging practices as new systems are deployed or requirements change. What You'll Bring 2-3 years of experience in IT administration, system monitoring, or similar role Exceptional organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail Strong understanding of security principles and the importance of system accountability Excellent documentation and reporting abilities Proven track record of managing and maintaining organized systems Key Skills Ability to work with various logging systems and navigate different platforms Strong analytical mindset for reviewing logs and identifying patterns or anomalies Clear communication skills for reporting findings and escalating issues to leadership Key Accountability The IT Manager/System Administrator is accountable for ensuring that activity logging is enabled, maintained, and reviewed.
