Financial Crime Manager: Investigations & Surveillance Absa Group – Muntinlupa City, National Capital Region, Philippines Job Summary The role holder will proactively manage transaction monitoring, sanctions, and reporting in accordance with local legislation, policy, and standards requirements. They will conduct investigations to substantiate concerns related to Money Laundering, Sanctions, Bribery, and Corruption, and enable business units to deliver the best possible business strategy, objectives, and customer experience. Responsibilities Manage investigations relating to Anti‑Money Laundering (AML), ensuring required SLAs are achieved. Design and implement processes to manage contractual services with ARO for transaction monitoring and sanctions alerts. Obtain, scrutinise, and analyse relevant evidence to draw meaningful observations and conclusions. Assess findings to establish trends and promptly escalates significant issues to the Head of Financial Crime and/or Money Laundering Reporting Officer. Proactively report sensitive financial crime matters impacting the business. Challenge information from local and in‑country teams to achieve continuous compliance improvement. Analyse alerts to determine whether a Suspicious Transaction Report should be submitted to the FIU under the AML CFT Act. Report and escalates all AML compliance, sanctions risks, and issues arising from businesses in accordance with Group and local regulatory requirements. Lead the review and monitoring of suspicious transactions in line with Absa Risk Management and Compliance Programmes and local regulations. Coordinate with ARO Transaction Monitoring and Sanction teams to ensure effective continuous information exchange. Design and implement appropriate processes and controls to comply with regulatory requests and instructions. Ensure timely delivery of statistics for regulatory returns, internal reports, and forums. Follow up on implementation of action plans from audits and assurance reviews for AML/ABC/Sanction, monitor remedial activities, and inform the Head of Financial Crime. Support execution of the in‑country Financial Crime project portfolio and expedite delivery on key decisions. Support the development and implementation of a proactive strategy to combat money laundering, sanctions breaches, and other financial crime issues. Develop action plans based on findings in suspicious transaction reviews and monitor execution of such plans. Perform all other duties as reasonably assigned. Risk and Control (20% of time) Ensure all activities are fully compliant with regulatory requirements, Enterprise‑Wide Risk Management Framework, and Absa Policies and Standards. Understand and manage risks and risk events relevant to the role. Apply applicable risk frameworks to embed a positive risk culture.
