The Crane Engineer is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, installation, and safe operation of cranes and lifting equipment. The role ensures compliance with safety standards and regulations, optimizing crane performance and minimizing downtime across site operations.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine and preventive maintenance on cranes (tower, mobile, overhead, gantry, etc.)
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and structural crane issues
  • Perform safety inspections and functional testing of lifting equipment in accordance with regulatory and manufacturer standards
  • Ensure proper calibration and functionality of load indicators, limit switches, hoists, and control systems
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance, inspections, and repairs
  • Supervise or assist with the installation and commissioning of new cranes or lifting systems
  • Coordinate with crane operators and site managers to schedule maintenance with minimal operational disruption
  • Ensure compliance with local safety and occupational health regulations (e.g., OSHA, LEEA, or regional standards)
  • Recommend improvements for equipment efficiency, reliability, and safety
  • Train or assist in the training of junior technicians or operators on crane safety and maintenance practices
Qualifications
  • Degree or diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering
  • 3–5 years of experience in crane maintenance or heavy lifting equipment engineering
  • In-depth knowledge of crane components, load handling systems, and safety mechanisms
  • Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings
  • Certification in crane inspection or maintenance (e.g., LEEA, OSHA, or equivalent) preferred
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills
  • Physically fit and able to work at heights or in confined spaces
  • Familiarity with safety procedures, lockout/tagout systems, and PPE usage
Preferred Attributes
  • Experience with automation or remote crane control systems
  • Knowledge of PLCs and crane-related software diagnostics
  • Background in construction, ports, logistics, or industrial plant environments
  • Valid driving license and willingness to travel between sites
