Contracts Specialist

Role Description To provide insightful and high-quality contract management and review services including advice on proposed language changes to mitigate risks. Responsibilities Provide detailed legal reviews and corresponding advice and support during the pursuit of new contracts or updates to existing contracts. Apply Arcadis risk standards to potential contracts or updates to existing contracts to identify risk issues, categorize their impact, propose alternative language aligned with Arcadis’ desired risk profile, and perform minor contract revisions/drafting or negotiation (with oversight from Commercial Contracts Senior Manager or Arcadis Legal Counsel, as needed). Work closely and proactively with Commercial Contracts Senior Manager to promote the set-up of opportunities in, use of, and administration of contracts in Arcadis’ internal contract management database. Provide sound and insightful advice on a variety of matters such as contract review and administration to relevant personnel. Promote and upskill relevant Arcadis personnel in identification and mitigation of legal and commercial risks, negotiation skills and similar contract management tools. Work effectively with other Arcadis enabling functions and operations leadership to ensure consistency in contract management processes and awareness. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by the Commercial Contracts Senior Manager. Qualifications & Experience Solid business knowledge with tertiary qualifications in a law or legally related discipline, preference for contract law. At least three (3) years of relevant work experience, longer years of experience a plus, including transactional legal reviews, risk analysis, contract drafting; experience in large or complex engineering and construction projects is advantageous. Contract and performance/risk management experience in environmental consulting or civil engineering; construction industry valued as an advantage. Experience reviewing and drafting U.S. industry forms (DBIA, AIA, EJCDC) a plus. Postgraduate qualifications a plus. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal. Exceptional organizational and time management skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to support collaboration and operate effectively in a team environment. Must be able to work independently, manage time and deadlines without extensive supervision; manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced business environment, handling a very high volume of work. Client-focused, entrepreneurial, proactive, pragmatic and highly adept at problem-solving. Motivated to learn new things and adaptable to apply that learning. Has an eye for both company interests and legal principles, combined with high integrity. Has a global and international mindset. Excellent command of English language (spoken and written).
