The Application Penetration Tester will assist Asurion in developing secure products by providing best-in-class application security penetration testing and security assessment services to the product development organization, while passionately pursuing personal and organizational excellence in the field of application/product security.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform in-depth application and system penetration tests of internally developed products and enterprise systems to identify security risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Develop proof of concepts (PoCs) to demonstrate exploitation and impact of vulnerabilities found.
  • Provide guidance on vulnerability remediation.
  • Review product and open-source code for security assessment and vulnerability identification.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with product development teams.
  • Develop security assessment scripts and frameworks; assist in automating security testing activities.
  • Stay updated with the latest developments in application security.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform threat modeling with security engineers and product teams.
  • Mentor security champions on penetration testing and red-team tactics.
  • Assist in incident response related to product security.
  • Participate in security post-mortems and retrospectives.
  • Research and present on security topics and threats.
  • Continuously improve technical skills and knowledge.
  • Identify, exploit, and remediate web application vulnerabilities.
  • Proficient in scripting or programming languages for automation and PoC development.
  • Familiar with iOS and/or Android penetration testing.
  • Experience with cloud security.
  • Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Knowledge of security standards and tools such as Burp, Caido, adb, Corellium.

Bonus skills and experience

  • Relevant security certifications (Offensive Security, Hack the Box, etc.).
  • Participation in CTFs and security research.
  • Experience in full-stack web and mobile development.
  • Bug bounty involvement and reverse engineering skills.
  • Experience with AI in security testing.
  • Security research presentations and CVE contributions.
  • Knowledge of Windows and Linux security techniques.
