Responsibilities
- Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnose and resolve complex issues with various kitchen equipment, including ovens, grills, fryers, refrigerators, dishwashers, and more.
- Preventative Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections of kitchen equipment, HVAC systems, and other facilities to identify potential issues.
- Installation: Set up and configure new kitchen appliances, ensuring proper connections and operation.
- May assist with the installation of new kitchens or equipment upgrades.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment histories, and performance reports.
- Training and Development: May provide training and development opportunities for other technicians, enhancing their skills and knowledge.
- Safety Oversight: Implement and enforce safety protocols within the maintenance department to create a secure working environment.
- In-depth knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment: Understanding the workings of various appliances, including ovens, grills, fryers, refrigerators, dishwashers, and more.
- Experience with electrical, mechanical, and gas systems: Ability to diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical components in kitchen equipment, including gas lines and connections.
- Proficiency with hand tools and diagnostic equipment: Familiarity with common tools and instruments used for troubleshooting and repair, including multimeters, pressure gauges, and specialized equipment for specific appliances.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and manuals: Understanding technical documentation to guide repairs and maintenance.
- Knowledge of safety protocols: Adhering to safety procedures when working with electrical and mechanical systems, including lockout/tagout procedures and proper handling of hazardous materials.
- Excellent communication skills: Effectively communicating with clients, supervisors, and other technicians, both verbally and in writing.
- Problem-solving abilities: Diagnosing and resolving complex equipment issues, often under pressure to minimize downtime.
- Time management skills: Effectively prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines, often working within tight schedules to minimize disruption to kitchen operations.
- Customer service skills: Providing professional and courteous service to clients, including restaurant managers, hotel staff, and other stakeholders.
