Job Description

As an IT Technical Writer , you will develop, edit, and maintain high-quality technical documentation that supports business processes, IT systems, and end-user needs. You'll collaborate with multiple teams to ensure materials are accurate, accessible, and aligned with company standards.

The Qualifications We Seek
  • Advanced experience evaluating business processes and working in Information Technology, 5 years equivalent work experience .
  • Hands-on technical writing and editing experience. Specific experience in documenting information technology software and systems with the ability to translate from business need to technical solution.
  • Knowledge of information gathering, planning, and organizing methods and principles.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Strong understanding of document formatting and presentation techniques.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Superior attention to detail.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a focus on rapport-building. High-level listening and interviewing skills to uncover business needs and share findings effectively.
  • Ability to create a record of topics discussed and distribute those notes to the team in a timely manner.
  • Ability to conduct research into a wide range of computing issues as required.
  • Ability to absorb and retain complex technical information quickly.
  • Ability to analyze target audience and present ideas in user-friendly language.
  • Good understanding of the organization's goals and objectives; able to multitask and understand how content/context applies across teams.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed; comfortable asking questions and taking initiative.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities with expert-level critical thinking.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Exceptional customer service orientation.
  • Team-oriented and experienced in agile, collaborative environments.
Your Daily Tasks

Strategy and Planning

  • Liaise with department heads and end users to define and identify business procedures.
  • Establish documentation needs for hardware/software and present ideas in user-friendly language.
  • Analyze IT project requirements to determine types of documents needed.
  • Collaborate with staff to collect and interpret technical information; conduct research into issues as required.
  • Ensure final documents are usable, high quality, and aligned with company branding.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend new documentation methods to improve processes.

Operational Management

  • Plan, design, research, write, and edit a range of documents, including user guides, manuals, technical specifications, training materials, user policies, and proposals.
  • Edit written documentation to create unified and consistent support documents.
  • Ensure accuracy of data updates from process owners and report deficiencies. Validate reports before sending to leadership.
  • Establish, communicate, and maintain documentation standards; ensure all documents are current and active.
  • Maintain the IT library.
  • Provide material support for audit responses.
