GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE JOB The Database Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of database systems, ensuring high availability, security, and performance. This role involves managing large-scale databases, overseeing data integrity, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support business objectives. The Senior DBA also leads automation efforts, develops best practices, and mentors team, driving continuous improvement in database administration processes. KEY RESULT AREAS / DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Configure and troubleshoot advanced database instances, high availability solutions, backup strategies, partitions, storage management, and access control. Administer and manage user privileges within the database environment, ensuring compliance with security standards and industry best practices. Proactively monitor and optimize system performance through advanced techniques such as index tuning, query optimization, disk performance tuning, and other performance-enhancing methodologies. Mentor and guide team by implementing and advocating database best practices, fostering skill development and technical growth. Oversee and manage database reports, ETL processes, and data pipelines to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and reliability. Lead efforts to automate repetitive database tasks, improving operational efficiency and minimizing human intervention. Evaluate and recommend system changes to mitigate risks, prevent incident recurrence, and enhance overall database performance and reliability. Create comprehensive documentation, including major incident reports, service specifications, change requests, and operational procedures. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of database solutions with organizational objectives.
