What we are looking for

Senior Back-End Developer (Python) who will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining robust backend systems and APIs that power scalable, high-performing applications. This role requires a strong foundation in Python, SQL, and AWS technologies, with additional expertise in geospatial data and observability tools. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless API integrations, reliable infrastructure, and efficient workflows that support innovative software solutions.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend systems and APIs.
• Develop and manage public-facing APIs, ensuring secure, reliable, and efficient access.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support continuous integration and deployment.
• Implement observability practices using tools such as Datadog, New Relic, or similar.
• Collaborate with frontend developers, product teams, and stakeholders to align backend architecture with product needs.
• Work with PostgreSQL and PostGIS for advanced SQL and geospatial data management.
• Develop and deploy solutions within AWS environments (API Gateway, Lambda, Serverless Stack).
• Support microservices-based architectures and event-driven workflows (e.g., webhooks).
• Ensure adherence to agile methodologies and best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
• Troubleshoot, optimize, and enhance system performance and reliability.

You’ll be a great fit if

• You have 5 years of backend software development experience, including building public-facing API products.
• You bring strong programming skills in Python, with expertise in frameworks such as Flask or FastAPI.
• You are highly proficient in SQL and PostgreSQL, with experience in geospatial extensions such as PostGIS.
• You have a solid understanding of full-stack technologies required to build and run APIs.
• You are skilled in RESTful API design and management, ensuring scalability and performance.
• You have hands-on experience working with AWS services, including API Gateway, Lambda, and the Serverless Stack.
• You are familiar with microservices architecture and event-driven technologies such as webhooks.
• You have experience integrating spatial mapping libraries like Mapbox or working with GIS concepts relevant to utility networks.
• You bring production-level experience with observability tools such as Datadog or New Relic.
• You have a strong grasp of CI/CD methodologies and can build and maintain pipelines effectively.
• You are experienced in working with agile development methodologies.

Nice to have

• You are familiar with geospatial data formats such as GeoJSON, shapefiles, or KMZ.
• You understand telecom or utility network planning and deployment workflows.
• You have experience with frontend frameworks such as React, Vue, or Angular (a plus).
• You are familiar with Figma or other UI/UX prototyping tools.

Please note

This role is remote; however, candidates must be based locally in the Philippines to support occasional onsite activities such as team events, client meetings, or equipment handover. Local residency is necessary for compliance with Philippines labor laws and employment regulations.

What happens after you submit your application

• There will be 3-4 interviews and a possible assessment from our client partner. This includes an initial interview, a culture interview, and 1-2 interviews with our client. This process runs for about 1-2 weeks but we will let you know if we need to adjust.
• We will constantly communicate with you regarding the development of your application. You can also directly communicate with us to ask about the status.
• If all goes well, we complete the reference check and provide other necessary requirements so we can offer you the job right away.
