Overview

The File Management Data Specialist is responsible for the secure, accurate, and efficient handling of client data files across internal systems. This role ensures that data transfers, storage, and access protocols meet compliance standards, particularly when handling sensitive or personally identifiable information (PII). The specialist will support batch processes, assist in data quality oversight, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain operational excellence in file-based workflows.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and execute secure file transfers (upload/download) across internal and client-facing systems, including Azure-based storage environments
  • Maintain detailed logs and audit trails of file movements to support compliance and traceability
  • Perform basic data validation and formatting tasks to prepare files for ingestion into analytics platforms
  • Collaborate with offshore teams to delegate and oversee routine data handling tasks, ensuring clarity in scope and adherence to data governance policies
  • Support the development and documentation of file management best practices, especially in cloud-based environments
  • Troubleshoot file access or transfer issues, escalating to IT or InfoSec as needed
  • Assist in preparing reports or summaries related to file activity, data quality, or operational metrics
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2+ years of experience in data operations, file management, or analytics support roles
  • Familiarity with secure file transfer protocols (e.g., SFTP, VPN, PGP), cloud storage (Azure preferred), and data privacy standards is a plus
  • Proficiency in Excel and basic scripting or automation tools is a plus
  • Working knowledge of business intelligence tools such as Power BI is a plus
  • Working knowledge of programming languages such as Python is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently or with remote teams
  • Experience working with offshore teams or in a global delivery model
  • Understanding of data quality frameworks and batch processing environments is a plus
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders is a plus
  • Background working with large datasets is a plus
